Indian Creek Crack climbing
Come to the mecca of crack climbing and learn to jam your hands, fists, fingers and toes in epic red splitter cracks!
Learn to jam, ringlock and more
Have you heard? Trad Wives are IN. We will bring the triple rack and put up some Indian Creek classics to get you started on the incredible red sandstone of Bears Ears National Monument.
What to expect: After a one hour drive from Moab, we will visit one of the many stacked crags at the Creek, and focus on proper jamming technique (small things like where you tuck your thumb can make all the difference!) pain tolerance, fear-management and we will touch on cam placements, and can expand upon any trad climbing topics you desire. If you are venturing into trad-lead climbing, we can facilitate that as well with mock-leads, cam-placement assessment, and safe belays.
This course is customized to meet you where you are at, and provides expert observation of your movement and useful micro adjustments you can make for quicker success. You can expect to make a lot of progress, but also be exhausted! Crack climbing is physically demanding, but rewarding. Expect to take several breaks between climbs to drink water, rest and eat.
This trip is best suited to people with some climbing experience, but we won't turn you down if you just want to go suffer!
Duration: This is a typically full day excursion, meaning 8 hours town to town.
What to Bring: Close-toed Hiking shoes, 3-4 liters of water per person, lunch and snacks, a hat, sunglasses, sun protection (sunshirt, sunscreen, chapstick, etc). Recommended: Crack gloves (we love these) or Athletic/climbing tape to make Tape Gloves.
